If Loving This Is Wrong, I Don’t Want to Be Right
Can we have a real moment? Let's talk about the absolute emotional load-bearing capacity of a perfect meal.
I was scrolling through some food quotes the other day and stumbled across a quote from tennis legend Michael Chang that hit me like a perfectly timed serve:
“As long as there’s pasta and Chinese food in the world, I’m okay.” Michael Chang
Honestly, Michael ? I’ve never felt more seen. That is the entire emotional spectrum right there. It’s the universal "I’m stressed, feed me something delicious" bat-signal.
The "Okay" Factor
We all have that one cuisine that makes the world stop spinning for a second. For Michael, it’s a tie. For me? It’s always been those deep, savory, complex Asian flavors that I’ve spent many years perfecting.
There is something about the balance of a perfect ginger-soy glaze or the crunch of the peanut sauce with chicken satay that just makes everything... okay. It’s not just food; it’s a mood stabilizer.
Why I Wrote the Book
People always ask me, "Michele, why a whole book dedicated to Asian flavors?"
And the answer is simple: Because I wanted to be "okay" every single night of the week without it being a production. I wanted the gourmet elegance of a high-end bistro but the "simple" of my own kitchen.
I realized that once you master the foundational sauces and the right high-quality fats (hello, beef tallow), these dishes become the easiest things in your repertoire.
Elegant. Simple.
My digital cookbook, Asian Flavors Made Simple, is my love letter to that "okay" feeling.
I’ve taken the intimidation out of the wok and replaced it with approachable, elevated recipes that you can actually whip up on a Tuesday. We’re talking bold flavors, clean ingredients, and zero stress.
Think of it as the ultimate life insurance policy: As long as you have this cookbook and a stocked pantry, you’re going to be just fine.
Stop searching for "okay" in all the wrong places and start making it at your own table.
I believe that every time we gather, we get a little closer to the people we were truly meant to be. I hope today's reflection inspires you to bring a little more beauty and intention to your own table.
