Summer is officially here!
The Cookbook I've Been Building is now available!
Summer is officially here, and I can't think of a better time to share something I've been quietly working on for months.
Elegant Salads: 45 Restaurant-Worthy Recipes for Everyday Meals and Effortless Entertaining is now available, and I am so excited to finally get this into your hands.
Why Salads, Why Now
Summer has a way of putting salads back at the center of the table. But I didn't want to write just a salad book. I wanted to write the salad book — one that treats salads the way a great restaurant does: as something composed, intentional, and worth talking about long after the meal is over.
That's the whole idea behind Elegant Salads. And it comes from forty years of feeding people and believing one thing deeply:
When people are fed well, they feel loved.
What's Actually Inside
The book opens with a Foundations section before a single salad recipe appears. Homemade buttery croutons, balsamic glaze, candied walnuts, and toasted pine nuts — the finishing touches that are the real difference between a forgettable salad and one people ask you to make again.
Then come 22 chef-inspired dressings and vinaigrettes. From a Classic Lemon Vinaigrette and Strawberry Vinaigrette to a Warm Bacon Dressing, Creamy Horseradish, and Homemade Thousand Island — every dressing you could want, built from scratch with real ingredients.
And then there's my Signature Brown Butter Balsamic Dressing. Rich, slightly nutty, a little sweet, served warm over greens with shaved Parmesan and candied walnuts. It's Recipe #5 in the book, and it anchors the very last recipe too — my Signature Salad, #45, the one that closes the whole collection. Guests ask about this dressing every single time, and now you'll have it forever.
The salad recipes are organized into three sections:
Cool & Fresh — light, crisp, no-cook salads perfect for summer lunches and easy entertaining. Butter Lettuce with Strawberries & Feta, Blueberry Goat Cheese & Toasted Pecans, Caprese with Balsamic Glaze, and a bonus Candied Lemons recipe tucked in at the end of the section that I think will become one of your favorite little tricks.
Warm & Composed — heartier salads that work as a first course or a full entrée. Grilled Romaine with Blue Cheese or Thousand Island, Roasted Beet & Blue Cheese, Caramelized Pear Salad, and a Classic Caesar with Homemade Buttery Croutons that I genuinely think will become a regular in your kitchen.
Extra Gourmet Signature Salads — the showstoppers. Tenderloin & Arugula with Creamy Horseradish Dressing, Grilled Peach & Burrata, Apple Walnut Mixed Greens with Maple Dijon, and Strawberry Spinach with Warm Poppy Seed Dressing. These are built for holidays, dinner parties, and any night you want the table to feel a little more special.
Every recipe includes chef tips, make-ahead notes, and nutrition information. Each section closes with its own dedicated shopping list so you're never hunting for what you need.
This Is the Season for It
The best salads begin with what's fresh and available right now. Strawberries, peaches, tomatoes, fresh herbs, crisp greens — summer gives you the best ingredients of the year, and this book shows you exactly what to do with them.
Whether you're planning a backyard dinner, hosting a holiday weekend, or just trying to make a Tuesday feel a little more elegant, there's something in here for every moment.
