Simple Fresh Applesauce in Minutes (No Cooking Needed)
John Glenn Astronaut -Applesauce
🚀🍎 A or B?
In 1962, American astronaut John Glenn became the first person to eat in space.
And what did NASA send him up with?
Applesauce.
In a toothpaste tube.
Floating weightless somewhere above the Earth.
Hero? Absolutely.
Lunch? …we can do better. 😄
Side A is history.
Side B is five minutes, a few organic apples, fresh lemon, and a blender — and honestly, it may be one of the most surprisingly delicious things you'll make all week.
Fresh applesauce like this is bright, lightly tart, naturally sweet, and completely different from the cooked jarred version most of us grew up with.
And the best part?
No cooking required.
Just good ingredients, blended together into something simple and beautiful.
Fresh Applesauce (No Cook) - Elegant but Easy!
Ingredients
3 apples (Honeycrisp or Delicious work beautifully — preferably organic)
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
A small pinch Baja Gold Sea Salt(This salt has minerals in it. So good for your health)
Instructions
Wash the apples well. Leave the skins on for extra flavor and nutrition.
Cut apples into chunks, removing the core.
Add apples, lemon juice, lemon zest, and sea salt to a blender (a Ninja works perfectly).
Blend to your desired consistency — chunky or smooth. I love my Ninja Blender - it is by far the best blender on the market, in my opinion.
That's it.
Fresh applesauce in about five minutes.
Why the Lemon Makes It Special
The lemon does two important things:
• Brightens the flavor
• Keeps the apples vibrant and fresh
Instead of tasting heavy or overly sweet, the applesauce becomes light, refreshing, and almost sparkling in flavor.
Storage
Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
It keeps beautifully for several days.
Serves about 4 people.
At our house, we often enjoy a few spoonfuls before meals — apples can gently support digestion and it's a refreshing way to start dinner.
Easy Variations
This recipe is incredibly flexible.
Try blending in:
🍑 Fresh peeled peaches
🍓 Strawberries
🍐 Pears
🍯 A drizzle of raw honey (optional)
Every version feels fresh and seasonal.
